MONONA, WI — A Wisconsin-based insurance company that previously laid off hundreds of employees earlier this year has announced another round of job cuts.
According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD), Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation (WPS) plans to reduce its workforce at one of its Monona locations.
The affected site is located at 1717 W. Broadway in Monona, though the facility uses a Madison mailing address. Company officials confirmed that the upcoming layoffs are part of broader efforts to reduce resources across the organization.
51 Permanent Layoffs to Begin in September 2025
As part of this latest reduction, 51 employees will be separated from the company beginning September 30, 2025. The WARN notice indicates that these layoffs are expected to be permanent.
This announcement follows a significant round of layoffs earlier this year, when WPS cut more than 300 positions amid restructuring efforts.
Eighth WARN Notice Filed in June
The WPS announcement marks the eighth WARN letter submitted to the DWD in June 2025, highlighting growing concerns over job stability across various industries in the state.
