WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, MI — A former teacher at Oakside Prep Academy has been arraigned on sex crime charges after allegedly admitting to having a sexual relationship with a student, authorities confirmed Monday.
Jocelynn Sanroman, 26, of Pontiac, is facing three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the alleged incidents involving a 16-year-old boy in 2023.
Details of the Case
According to investigators, Sanroman, while employed as a teacher at Oakside Prep Academy, allegedly engaged in sexual activity with the student. The case came to light after she reportedly disclosed the encounter to another teacher, who immediately reported the incident to school officials, triggering a criminal investigation.
Last week, prosecutors formally charged Sanroman with three counts of criminal sexual conduct, leading to her arraignment on Monday.
School Responds to Allegations
In response to the charges, a spokesperson for Oakside Prep Academy issued a statement calling the situation “deeply troubling” and reaffirming the school’s commitment to student safety.
“These are troubling allegations that are unsettling to everyone in our school community. While privacy rights and the ongoing legal process limit the details I can share, what I can say is that school leadership acted immediately after learning about these allegations,” the spokesperson said.
“Standing firm in our core value to behave with care and do the right thing always, we strive to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for the students entrusted to our care. Their safety and well-being remains our top priority.”
Legal Process Continues
Sanroman’s case will proceed through the legal system as investigators continue gathering evidence. Third-degree criminal sexual conduct is a felony offense in Michigan and carries significant penalties upon conviction.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the investigation or any further potential legal action.
