The possibility of more Celtics trades: It has been claimed that the team has already agreed to move two players from the 2024 NBA championship roster. However, it is unclear if Boston has any other huge deals in the works.
According to several rumors, the Celtics have already dealt Kristaps Porzingis and Jue Holiday in an attempt to get out of the NBA’s second level luxury tax. Boston currently seems to be below the threshold of that particular element of the league’s luxury tax structure, given the reported circumstances of the Porzingis agreement. However, more trades aren’t out of the question, as ESPNBA insider Brian Windhorst clarified in a Wednesday morning Get Up! episode.
When asked if prospective trades involving Derrick White or Jaylen Brown were still feasible, Windhorst responded, “This is one of the things that could define today in the NBA.” They fall under the second apron now that they have made these agreements. Congratulations if that’s what they want to achieve.
However, they are still paying attention, Windhorst said of the Boston leadership, hinting at the potential for more transactions. The rest of the league is watching from here. Jaylen Brown is being listened to. Derrick White is the one they are listening to.
The Celtics’ hopes for the 2025–2026 season have been viewed as lowered due to Jayson Tatum’s recovery from a recent ruptured Achilles tendon. This could result in a roster reorganization and what the team believes are required cuts (related to the luxury tax).
Windhorst mentioned another aspect of timing. There may be a special short-term market for Brown or White since the NBA Draft begins on Wednesday, June 25.
Regarding the Celtics pair, Windhorst stated, “Today is draft day, but I would be surprised at this point if they move them.” There are organizations who would really like to acquire one of these players in the first ten [of the selection order]. When Jayson Tatum returns, will the Celtics have a chance to move in and select a player in the draft that they believe may turn their team around?
“Maybe,” he added, “because if I didn’t, they wouldn’t be listening.” Jaylen Brown is, in my opinion, staying put. Though I can’t rule out anything that might occur by the end of today, I believe Derrick White will remain in his current position.
The NBA Draft begins at 8 p.m. tonight. The Celtics have the 28th and 32nd picks going into the yearly event.
What 2019 Celtics draft pick was included in the 2022 trade for Derrick White, speaking about first-round picks?
The response is at the bottom.
Hint: Boston drafted him out of Indiana with the 14th overall pick.

Kendrick Perkins’ opinions about the Boston Celtics: The former Boston center believes that more trades might be coming, and his statement regarding Brad Stevens, the president of basketball operations for the Celtics, is worth listening to.
Brad Stevens is a unique individual. He is a holiday, not simply a trip.
On this day: In 1999, a spontaneous moment in the Red Sox dugout recorded one of Pedro Martinez’s most memorable moments of humor. Martinez was taped to the dugout pole by Nomar Garciaparra and Mark Portugal during a 6-1 victory over the White Sox. Martinez was fortunate not to be hit by a foul ball, particularly in the days before dugout safety railings.
Highlight of the day: On Tuesday, while playing for the St. Cloud Rox, a collegiate summer team headquartered in Minnesota, Cayden Gaskin made the always thrilling decision to try to steal home.
