San Antonio, Texas — San Antonio is preparing for one of its biggest Independence Day celebrations in decades as Stars & Stripes on Houston Street returns for America’s 250th birthday.
Organized by Centro San Antonio in partnership with the City of San Antonio and Visit San Antonio, the all-day celebration brings back downtown fireworks for the first time in roughly 15 years, along with a patriotic parade, live entertainment, and a family-friendly festival.
San Antonio July 4 Schedule
The celebration begins early with the inaugural Stars & Stripes Downtown 5K.
Event Schedule
- 8:30 a.m. – Stars & Stripes Downtown 5K
- 10:00 a.m. – Stars & Stripes Independence Day Parade
- 10:00 a.m. onward – Stars & Stripes Music & Food Festival at Civic Park

- Night – Stars & Stripes Downtown Spectacular Fireworks

Fireworks Start Time
While organizers have confirmed the Downtown Spectacular Fireworks as the evening finale, an exact launch time has not yet been published. The fireworks will take place at Civic Park at Hemisfair, with the Tower of the Americas serving as the backdrop.
This marks the first July 4 downtown fireworks show in about 15 years, making it one of the most anticipated Independence Day events in Texas.
Best Places to Watch the Fireworks
Civic Park at Hemisfair
This is the official event location and the best place to experience the full celebration, including concerts, food vendors, and the fireworks finale.
Tower of the Americas Area
Because the fireworks will be staged with the Tower of the Americas as a backdrop, nearby areas around Hemisfair are expected to provide outstanding views.
Houston Street
Visitors arriving early can enjoy the morning parade before walking to Civic Park for the afternoon festival and evening fireworks.
San Antonio River Walk
The nearby River Walk also offers a festive atmosphere on Independence Day, and several Go Rio Fireworks Viewing Party Cruises are planned for the evening.
Parking and Transportation
Because thousands of visitors are expected downtown, organizers recommend arriving early.
The City of San Antonio suggests using nearby City Tower Garage, Houston Street Garage, and St. Mary’s Garage, all within walking distance of the parade route and festival.

Visitors should also expect temporary street closures around Houston Street, Hemisfair, and the downtown parade route throughout the day. Walking, rideshare services, and VIA Metropolitan Transit are expected to be the easiest ways to reach the event.
More Ways to Celebrate
Beyond the downtown festivities, San Antonio offers several additional Independence Day experiences.
Visitors can enjoy the Go Rio Fireworks Viewing Party Cruise on the San Antonio River, special events at The Alamo, Market Square celebrations, and family activities throughout downtown during the holiday weekend.
Why San Antonio Stands Out in 2026
The 2026 celebration is historic for San Antonio. Not only is the city celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, but it is also bringing major downtown fireworks back after approximately 15 years while expanding the holiday into a full-day festival featuring a parade, 5K, concerts, food, and family entertainment.
With free admission, multiple downtown attractions, and one of Texas’ largest America250 celebrations, San Antonio is expected to draw visitors from across the state for an unforgettable Fourth of July weekend.
