City of Dodge, Kansas – Due to the fact that wind and low humidity are creating circumstances that are conducive to fires, a Red Flag Warning has been issued for many counties in the state of Kansas this afternoon. On Thursday, April 10, the warning is scheduled to remain in effect from one o’clock (CDT) to eight o’clock (CDT).
Trego, Ellis, Scott, Lane, Ness, and Rush counties are among those that have been impacted, as stated by the National Weather Service in Dodge City on the affected areas. Northerly winds are forecast to reach speeds of 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts reaching up to 35 miles per hour. The levels of relative humidity will decrease to as low as 15 percent, which will increase the risk of fires spreading rapidly into the surrounding area.
Because of the conditions, it is strongly discouraged to burn outside because any fire that starts could quickly spread to other areas of the property. It is imperative that residents in the affected areas take the necessary steps to avoid sparks and guarantee that appropriate fire safety measures are effectively implemented.
