Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) discovered and ended a multimillion-dollar initiative launched by the Biden administration to promote diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) and “inclusive environments in schools.”
The Invent2Prevent program was originally intended to educate kids with tools for preventing terror and violence in their communities. However, the Biden administration’s DHS worked with primarily far-left organizations, who shaped the curriculum to emphasize on DEI and LGBTQ issues.
DHS estimates that terminating the program will save the agency more than $1.5 million.
“President Trump was given a mandate by the American people to eliminate wasteful government spending, and that is exactly what we are doing,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News Digital. “
“This program was not only wasteful, it was also using public money to support an openly partisan and political organization,” she added,
“Politicized NGOs like Eradicate Hate have been siphoning away taxpayer dollars for far too long. We are ending the grift.”
The Invent2Prevent website now displays a banner stating that the page contains “archived content” and that the material on the site “contains outdated information that may not reflect current policy or programs.”
The Biden administration’s push for DEI in the private sector and the federal government took many forms, but one of the most visible was former President Joe Biden’s “Advancing Equity and Racial Justice Through the Federal Government” executive order, which he signed on his first day in office.
The issue of DEI policy dominated the 2024 presidential race, with then-President Donald Trump’s campaign regularly linking DEI to the “woke” agenda.
When President Trump entered office, he spent no time dismantling DEI throughout the federal government, mirroring Biden’s first-day executive order with his own. “Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing” was signed on January 20, 2025.
The executive order called for the “termination of all discriminatory programs,” prompting private-sector corporations ranging from Amazon to Goldman Sachs to withdraw the diversity measures championed by Biden.
Trump also signed a memorandum in March removing DEI from the Foreign Service, stating that he “believes all parts of government should be based solely on merit.”
While DEI policies remain in place, there has been a noticeable shift in language, and certain figures show a reduction in implementation during the Biden administration.
