Here’s what to know about the state’s new commemorative 250th license plate

This month, drivers in Massachusetts could see a new license plate that is patriotic.

The Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) has released a commemorative specialty license plate in honor of the 250th anniversary of American independence and the revolutionary past of Massachusetts.

The plate has a blue backdrop, the state name in red at the top, 13 white stars surrounding the year 1776, and the words “250 Years of Independence” printed across the bottom.

The special two-year passenger plate has been offered for online purchase at Mass.Gov/myRMV since May 22 and is a component of the state’s sMA250 celebrations, according to Mass.gov.

According to Transportation Secretary & CEO Monica Tibbits-Nutt, drivers may proudly show off their ties to Massachusetts and its crucial role in the American Revolution by using this specialty plate. Massachusetts has been a leader on the most important issues since the beginning of our country. This plate is a heartfelt approach to honor the Commonwealth’s history, spirit, and collective pride.

The usual $60 registration charge and a $40 special plate fee make up the $100 total standard plate fee.
