According to reports, the Bruins have strengthened their bottom-six unit.
The Bruins have signed winger Tanner Jeannot to a five-year deal that will have a $3.4 million cap charge, according to Elliottte Friedman.
For a guy who could be more suited for an NHL fourth-line position, the Bruins are paying a hefty price in terms of both term and compensation.
In all four of his NHL seasons, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound winger, who is 28 years old, has recorded 200 hits or more, making him one of the league’s more physically fit players.
However, Jeannot has also fallen well short of his potential as a power forward in the middle six who might score 15–20 goals a season.

Jeannot has not produced the same amount of work over the past three seasons after having a breakout 2021–22 season in Nashville (24 goals, 41 points, and 318 hits in 81 games).
Jennot has only managed 20 goals and 45 total points between 2022 and 2025, averaging only 6.7 goals each campaign.
Jeannot may join Mark Kastelic in a punishing checking unit if he settles into the fourth line with Boston. He would also provide much-needed protection for a Boston club that plans to add more young players to the lineup in the upcoming seasons.
However, given the kind of player Boston could logically add to the roster at a far lower cost and on a much shorter contract, that duration and the $3.4 million price tag is still a significant increase.
This seems like a huge overpay for a Boston squad that has to devote more salary space to talent and scoring touch unless Jennot can find his offensive game again.
