RICHMOND, Va. — Governor Glenn Youngkin of Virginia said he will give his pay for the fourth quarter to help people in Southwest Virginia who were affected by the floods.
Youngkin and First Lady Suzanne S. Youngkin will go to Southwest Virginia on Thursday to give Youngkin’s pay to two groups.
Because of the hurricane, the United Way of Southwest Virginia will get half of the pay. At 1 p.m., the governor and first lady will be at the United Way of Southwest Virginia gift Center in Damascus to mark the gift.
Half of Youngkin’s pay for the fourth quarter will be given to the Virginia Cattlemen’s Foundation to help farmers who were hurt by Hurricane Helene.
At 2:15 p.m., Youngkin will give the second gift at Sweet Tea Farms in Meadowview.
Youngkin has been to Southwest Virginia several times since the storm to look at the damage. One trip was to Damascus with JD Vance, who is running for vice president.
