Temps will rise to record or almost record highs again on Thursday afternoon. Temperatures will drop a little on Friday because of a cold front, but they will rise again this weekend.
Today in New Mexico, temperatures are rising and are now up to 5° to 10° warmer than they were Tuesday afternoon. The clouds across the state are still clear today because of dry air. Once again, temperatures will drop quickly at night. Thursday morning will be cool, but the afternoon is likely to have a record or nearly record-high temperatures. It will get warm enough in Albuquerque to reach the 80s, and in southern New Mexico, it will reach the 90s. In the northern parts of the state, it may also get windy Thursday afternoon.
On Thursday night, a weak cold front will come through New Mexico from the northeast. In the eastern half of New Mexico, this front will bring high temperatures down by more than 10° on Friday afternoon. The western half of the state, on the other hand, will stay mostly dry. Even though the front is going through, we will stay dry. Once again, temperatures are going to rise on Saturday. On Sunday and Monday, record and nearly record high temperatures are likely to happen in many parts of the state.
A storm system is moving toward New Mexico on Monday, which will bring a cool breeze across the state in the afternoon. Tomorrow afternoon, the winds will be at their strongest. Gusts of up to 50+ mph could be seen all over the area. Next Tuesday night, a cold front will move across New Mexico. By next Wednesday, the temperature will have dropped sharply.
The winds will die down next Wednesday, but the air will still be one of the coldest this season. It’s too bad that it doesn’t look like it will bring much rain. The southwest of Colorado is expected to get rain and heavy mountain snow, but most of New Mexico will stay dry. In northern New Mexico, there may be a few showers and light mountain snow.
