A 4-month-old infant was discovered unconscious at a residence in the 7400 block of South Calumet Avenue on Friday morning, causing a tragic occurrence in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.
After being found just after 9:00 a.m., the infant was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was declared dead at 9:54 a.m.
The infant showed no outward symptoms of harm, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office and police.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of death as they try to figure out what caused this tragic loss.
The 4-month-old child who passed away on Friday has been identified as Z’Aire Travis by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. Additional information has not yet been released, although the cause of his death is still being investigated.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services did not immediately respond when questioned about the circumstances of Z’Aire’s death.
