Storm Alert: Severe Weather Threat Looms Over Philadelphia This Thursday

On Thursday night, there is a possibility of a few severe storms, which will result in the Philadelphia region being placed on a NEXT Weather Alert warning.

This storm will bring with it the possibility of isolated storms that are strong to severe, with destructive wind gusts and the possibility of heavy rain. For a short period of time, a weak tornado could potentially be produced by the atmospheric circumstances.

This might result in traffic delays, localized flooding, power outages, and the downing of trees and branches, among other potential consequences.

It is expected that temperatures will reach the upper 70s on Thursday when a warm front that originates from a storm that is located west of the Philadelphia region lifts north of our region. It is possible that we may see sporadic showers throughout the day; however, the most serious threat for us is expected to arrive later in the evening and continue through the night.

On Friday, there is a possibility that you could see some persistent rain throughout your morning commute; however, the skies will clear up during the afternoon and evening, in preparation for another rain trend that will continue to settle in throughout the weekend. Moreover, temperatures will fluctuate between the 50s and the 70s, ranging from high to low.

By the beginning of the following week, a surge of significantly colder air will come, and on Tuesday, we will have a hard time reaching a high temperature of fifty degrees. By Wednesday morning, winds may blow at more than forty miles per hour, and temperatures will be close to freezing, which will send wind chill values into the teens.
