According to Beverly police, the jet crashed immediately after taking off from Beverly Regional Airport, just before nine in the morning. Geoffrey Andrews, a thirty-year-old Melrose resident, was also killed in the incident.
The two victims were discovered trapped inside the severely damaged single-engine aircraft by first responders. Authorities said the plane seemed to be leaning against a utility pole.
Police and fire authorities said the second person was taken to a hospital by medical helicopter after suffering severe injuries. There were no recorded injuries or property damage on the ground.
The collision will likely be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the FAA said.
