Report: ‘Turncoats’ within Red Sox organization are plotting against Craig Breslow

There has been a lot of opposition to Craig Breslow’s plan to simplify the Red Sox baseball operations division.

In an article about the aftermath of the Rafael Devers trade that was published on Friday, ESPN’s Jeff Passan detailed an incident that was reminiscent of the 1999 movie Office Space.

In an effort to reduce the excess that had remained from earlier Sox front office iterations, the Red Sox let go of about fifty employees last year. The scouting division was severely impacted. It was gutted, according to Passan.

Many veteran employees were not pleased with the changes, and some of them are still resentful.

Turncoats are undoubtedly scheming against Bres from within. Passan wrote.

According to the article, Carl Moesche, the scouting supervisor, was fired after he finished a Zoom call that he believed to be over by saying, “Thanks Bres, you [expletive] stiff.”

Passan claimed that his remarks about the dismissal were a wake-up call for people who felt wronged by the Devers deal. And it might be time to try to remove disorder from the franchise’s playbook if a complaint from a low-level employee can become a rallying cry for paying customers.

Days after the squad swept the rival Yankees, it was undoubtedly disruptive to trade the team’s most productive slugger over a power battle. According to the story, Devers felt blindsided, betrayed, and shocked by the news.

After bringing in a Gold Glover to replace Devers, the team asked him to go to designated hitter before changing their mind and asking him to play first base after Triston Casas suffered an injury. Devers was traded because of his unwillingness to carry out the plans.

A rival official told Passan that Boston completely messed up this Devers scenario, and somehow it all worked out for them to unload what was a nuisance and an underwater contract while also receiving a lot of value in return.

We overpaid for a decade of our bat-only celebrity, publicly enraged him, and then proceeded to screw up every chance to make things right. Would you mind helping us out of it by giving us your first-round choice from the previous season and a controlled mid-rotation starter?

Since then, Devers has altered his mind and stated that he will perform wherever San Francisco requests. On the West Coast, he gets a new beginning. His contract was able to be terminated by the Red Sox.

As chief baseball officer for just two years, Breslow has already dealt a homegrown talent.
