Red Sox prospect nicknamed The Password became a Jeopardy! clue
The league said Monday that Red Sox prospect Jhostynxon Garcia will play for the team in the 2025 MLB All-Star Futures game.
The outfielder, who is 23 years old, is hitting.275 this season with 40 RBI and 12 home homers. After being brought up to Class AAA Worcester, he produced the most of that work.
The sole Red Sox prospect invited to the game was Garcia, who MLB.com ranks as the team’s fifth-ranked prospect in the farm system. The club’s top two prospects, Marcelo Mayer and Roman Anthony, were recently called up to Boston. Last season, they both participated in the Futures Game.
Some of Major League Baseball’s best prospects have been included in the MLB All-Star Futures Game since 1999. Alfonzo Soriano, Grady Sizemore, and Kyle Schwarber are previous MVPs.
Braden Montgomery, a former Red Sox prospect, is also included. The top-ranked prospects revealed for the game are Phillies pitcher Andrew Painter (No. 5 overall) and Padres infielder Leo De Vries (No. 3 overall).
Atlanta’s Truist Park will host the game on July 12 at 4 p.m.
Garcia recently broke into the top-25 of Baseball America’s rankings and the top-50 of Keith Law’s prospect rankings. This pick is his most recent accolade.
Recently, on Jeopardy, his nickname, The Password, was utilized as a clue!.
On Tuesday night, the WooSox will play their first of three home games versus Syracuse.
