PITTSBURGH, PA – Western Pennsylvania’s first day of spring is ushering in showers, wind, and a cooldown into the weekend. Thursday will be rainy, leading to drier and cooler weather Friday before another bout of showers this weekend.
Showers will pass through the Pittsburgh area Thursday, with gusty southwest winds of up to 28 mph, the National Weather Service said. Temperatures will decline throughout the day, from the upper 50s at the start of the day to about 30°F tonight.
Friday will be drier and sunnier, but warm temperatures will be out of the question, with a high of only 53°F. The winds will turn west at 8 to 10 mph, making conditions breezy.
The weekend weather features a repeat of the showers, this time on Saturday morning. While Pittsburgh will experience occasional breaks in the sun, temperatures will be in the low-to-mid 50s during the day and in the 20s and 40s at night.
Sunday provides a temporary warm-up, with a high of 55°F, but a system will arrive late in the evening to bring rain. Showers will continue into Monday morning before they clear.
Residents can expect to prepare for fluctuating conditions, particularly if commuting via major highways such as I-376 or I-79. Motorists can expect to see wet roads Thursday and windy conditions Friday.
Temperatures will be mild by early next week, with mostly sunny weather forecasted Tuesday and Wednesday.
