Oasis Reunites: Brothers Share Stage for First Time in 16 Years as Record-Breaking Tour Kicks Off

Oasis Reunites Brothers Share Stage for First Time in 16 Years as Record-Breaking Tour Kicks Off

Music history was made in Wales Friday night as Noel and Liam Gallagher, once known as rock’s most infamous feuding brothers, reunited on stage for the first time in 16 years, launching their much-anticipated Oasis Live ‘25 reunion tour.

The sold-out crowd of 60,000 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium erupted as the Manchester-born siblings, backed by former Oasis members Gem Archer, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Andy Bell, and drummer Joey Waronker, opened the night with their classic anthem “Hello.”

“Hello beautiful people, it’s been too long,” Liam told the roaring audience, marking a historic moment that many believed would never happen.

The crowd was treated to a setlist packed with Britpop staples, from “Some Might Say” and “Roll With It” to fan favorites like “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” and “Cigarettes and Alcohol.” The stadium floor shook as thousands sang along, many visibly emotional at witnessing the band’s reunion.

Contrary to predictions of lingering tension, the brothers appeared remarkably at ease, even walking onto the stage hand-in-hand, their notorious feud seemingly set aside — at least for now.

Global Buzz and Sky-High Ticket Demand

The Oasis Live ‘25 tour, announced last August, became the biggest concert launch ever seen in the UK and Ireland. More than 10 million fans from 158 countries scrambled for tickets, with only a fraction securing spots. Around 900,000 tickets were sold across 18 dates.

The unprecedented demand sparked controversy over ticket prices. Standard standing tickets advertised for £135 quickly transformed into “in demand” tickets priced at £355 plus fees on Ticketmaster. The Competition and Markets Authority launched an investigation into the pricing row, prompting Oasis to ditch dynamic pricing for their U.S. tour dates.

Despite the ticketing uproar, fans expressed nothing but excitement as they packed the Cardiff venue, some camping overnight to secure prime spots near the stage.

Josie House, who traveled from Birmingham, summed up the atmosphere: “I was at their last ever gig in 2009, and now I’m here for their first back — it feels like such a big moment. The city already has such a buzz, with Oasis songs coming from every bar.”

A New Chapter for Oasis — and Big Business

The reunion isn’t just a cultural milestone — it’s big business. Tour revenue is projected to reach anywhere from £400 million to £1 billion, with the Gallagher brothers reportedly set to pocket £50 million each. They’ve also signed lucrative sponsorship deals with Adidas and Warner Bros., and rumors are swirling that a streaming giant like Netflix or Amazon could scoop up concert footage for a documentary or feature film.

Liam couldn’t resist poking fun at the ticket controversy mid-set, quipping: “Was it worth the £40,000 you paid to be here?” The crowd responded with a thunderous cheer, seemingly confirming it was.

A Feud Put on Pause — For Now

The reunion marks a remarkable turnaround for the brothers, whose explosive fallout in 2009 saw Oasis disband after a backstage fight in Paris. Over the years, they traded insults through the press and social media, with Noel once describing Liam as “a man with a fork in a world of soup,” while Liam accused Noel of abandoning the rock and roll spirit.

On Friday, however, the focus was firmly on the music. Both brothers shared the spotlight, with Noel leading a solo run of songs, including “Half the World Away” and a heartfelt singalong to “Little By Little,” as Liam briefly exited the stage.

For fans who waited nearly 5,800 days for this moment, the night was everything they hoped for — and perhaps, the start of a new chapter for Oasis.
