Response to Hugo Gonzalez’s draft selection by the Celtics: The Celtics picked forward Hugo Gonzalez with the 28th pick in the first round of Wednesday’s NBA Draft.
The 19-year-old Spaniard, who was a member of Real Madrid before, could be used as a bench warmer in Boston because of his quickness, defensive vigor, and high motor. Additionally, according to ESPN NBA draft analyst Jonathan Givony, Boston plans to bring Gonzalez over this season, even if he could be a player the Celtics get from Europe.

During the draft, Givony expressed his optimism about Gonzalez’s potential to ESPN viewers in his comprehensive analysis of the selection.
After the trade was revealed on draft night, Givony said, “I love this pick for the Boston Celtics.” They are bringing Hugo Gonzalez over immediately and are reportedly keeping this pick. When Hugo Gonzalez is on the court, NBA clubs adore the passion and frantic energy he provides.
“His court vision is strong,” Givony continued. He is a fantastic athlete and a transition scorer.
Overall, the draft expert believes that Brad Stevens, the president of basketball operations for Boston, made a wise decision.
Givony stated, “I think the Boston Celtics got one of the biggest steals in the draft here.”
The Celtics presently have one more pick, 32nd overall, going into the second round of the NBA. Picks resume at 8:00 p.m.
