PHILADELPHIA— Police in Philadelphia say that the man they believe hit and hurt three nurses while they were trying to help a gunshot victim outside of a hospital last weekend has turned himself in.
Jaadir Goodwyn, 20, of Philadelphia, was named a suspect by police on Tuesday. Among the charges against him are aggravated assault by car and reckless endangerment.
Police say Goodwyn dropped off the person who was shot in the ambulance bay at Penn Presbyterian Hospital around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. He was driving a silver Jeep Cherokee. Along with two other men, he went inside to get help. Three nurses and security guards ran outside to help the hurt man.
Police say that when Goodwyn and his friends saw a police car coming, they got back in the Jeep and sped off, hitting the three nurses and the person who had been shot.
One nurse, a 36-year-old guy with injuries to his face and internal bleeding, stayed in the hospital Wednesday in critical condition. The other two nurses, a 51-year-old man who hurt his back and head and a 37-year-old man who hurt his legs, are both in safe condition at the hospital.
The 28-year-old man who was shot was also still in serious condition at the hospital.
Later, the car that was involved in the hit-and-run was found in Upper Darby, which is not far away. Police said that surveillance video, witness accounts, and evidence found inside the car led them to Goodwyn. Wednesday, no one knew if Goodwyn had a lawyer who could speak for him.
No word yet from the police on whether they are also looking for the two guys who were with Goodwyn or if they could be charged.
