Police said Wednesday that they have apprehended a guy in Georgia who was wanted in relation to a gunshot at a Caribbean festival in Boston that left eight people injured.
Following a six-month investigation by the Boston Police Fugitive Unit, Gerald Vick, 31, was arrested in Lithia Springs, Georgia on Wednesday, according to the department. The U.S. Marshals apprehended him without incident.
A shooting on the edge of Dorchester’s J Open Parade soon before 8 a.m. in August 2023 injured eight persons. According to the authorities at the time, one individual was gravely hurt, but none of the injuries were life-threatening. According to authorities, two people refused treatment, and six were admitted to the hospital.
Vick was one of four males who were first charged with gun-related offenses in relation to the February 2024 incident. Sebastian Monteiro, Hubman Hunter, and Dwayne Francis were also charged.
According to Suffolk Superior Court records, Vick was later charged with 14 charges, including eight counts of assault and battery with a firearm, unlawful possession of a machine gun, unlawful possession of a handgun, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
Vick allegedly owned a 9 mm handgun with a huge capacity magazine that was fitted with a Glock switch to enable continuous firing, according to the police.
According to authorities, Vick disconnected his ankle monitor the evening before his December trial. According to court documents, the court then defaulted his bail and issued an arrest warrant.
According to court documents, Francis entered a not guilty plea in February 2024 to gun-related crimes, including having a large capacity feeding device. Next week is anticipated to be the date of his trial.
According to the Suffolk County District Attorney, Monteiro entered a guilty plea in October 2024 to assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm without a license, and carrying a loaded firearm without a license, while Hunter was found not guilty earlier this year.
A request for response from Vick’s lawyer was not answered.
