Fireworks Show Begins at 9:30 P.M.
The free public fireworks display is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 4.
Unlike traditional waterfront launches, fireworks will be fired directly from the Golden Gate Bridge towers and from the east side of the bridge between the towers, creating a dramatic backdrop against one of California’s most recognizable landmarks.
Because of the launch location, officials recommend choosing viewing areas that provide a clear northwest-facing view toward the bridge.
Best Places to Watch the Fireworks
Several waterfront locations have been identified as offering the best views of the display.
Crissy Field
Crissy Field remains one of the most popular locations for viewing the fireworks. Located within the Presidio, the area provides an unobstructed view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the surrounding bay.
Marina Green
Marina Green offers another excellent vantage point with wide-open waterfront access and direct views toward the bridge.
Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf

Ferry Building and Embarcadero Waterfront
Officials say the fireworks will not be visible from the Ferry Building or much of the Embarcadero waterfront. Visitors planning to watch the show should instead head to one of the recommended viewing locations.
Parking and Transportation Information
Parking will be extremely limited throughout the evening.
The parking lots at Crissy Field and Marina Green will be closed to the general public beginning at 6 a.m. on July 4 and will remain closed until 6 a.m. on July 5.
Officials strongly encourage attendees to use public transportation whenever possible.
Those planning to drive should expect significant traffic congestion before and after the fireworks display.
Golden Gate Bridge Closures Announced
Several temporary closures will affect motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.
The east sidewalk between the bridge towers will be partially closed beginning July 3 to allow crews to prepare the fireworks equipment.
On July 4, both bridge sidewalks will close to pedestrians and bicyclists from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol and Golden Gate Bridge officials will coordinate a full closure of the bridge to vehicle traffic shortly before the fireworks begin. The bridge is expected to reopen shortly after the display concludes, although delays are likely.
Visitors should also note that all parking areas at the south end of the bridge will close beginning at 11 a.m. on July 4.
Plan Ahead for the Best Experience
Officials recommend arriving well before the 9:30 p.m. start time to secure a good viewing location. Attendees are also encouraged to dress in layers, as San Francisco’s weather can become cold, windy, and foggy after sunset.
