Indianapolis, IN – A freeze warning has been posted for areas of Indiana tonight as temperatures are projected to fall into the low 20s. The warning remains in effect from 1 a.m. until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The National Weather Service is predicting that the unusually cold temperatures may kill sensitive vegetation, including crop plants, and be a nuisance for outdoor unprotected plumbing. The advisory calls for caution on the part of residents, including wrapping plants outside and letting plumbing outside drip slowly to avoid freezing.
Besides tonight’s freeze, there is a chance for another freeze on Tuesday evening, continuing the impact outdoors.
Citizens are advised to shield sensitive plants from the cold and cover any outside equipment. Freezing weather is likely to create widespread disruptions, especially to farming and outdoor infrastructure, and so these precautions are essential for the next few days.
