David Ortiz indirectly criticizes Rafael Devers, praises Red Sox on social media

In their ongoing feud with Rafael Devers, David Ortiz is supporting the Red Sox.

He shared a photo of himself at Fenway Park with his No. 34 and Rick Ross’s song “Hustlin'” playing in the background on his Instagram story on Friday.

The problem is that you have to be a complete player and all-around player in order to have any like this at Boston. Ortiz penned. Bravo, @redsox.

“Basketball is the best organization,” he added.

Devers’ refusal to play first base after Triston Casas’ injury was one of the factors contributing to the conflict between the Red Sox and Devers.

Before his first game against his old team on Friday, Devers gave reporters some insight into why he responded the way he did.

Through an interpreter, Devers told reporters, “I feel like I earned some respect because I put up some good numbers in Boston.” Yes, I would have played [first] if they had asked me at the start of spring training.

At first, the Red Sox and Devers didn’t have the finest communication, Ortiz, who was mostly the team’s designated hitter but also occasionally played first base, told The Athletic.

“You have to realize that the organization has power over everyone at some point,” Ortiz added. They can trade you, let you go, or play you. As a young player, it might be challenging to comprehend that at times. However, they are free to do as they like. Only your actions on the field are within your control.
