Chicago, Illinois — A 50-year-old man and his dog were shot Tuesday morning in West Pullman after he yelled at a speeding driver to slow down, according to Chicago police.
The shooting occurred around 7:25 a.m. in the 300 block of East 117th Street on the city’s Far South Side.
Argument Over Speed Escalates to Gunfire
Police reports indicate the man was on his porch warming up his car when he noticed a red vehicle speeding down the street. He shouted at the driver to “slow down,” authorities said.
Moments later, the vehicle allegedly circled back.
An armed individual inside the red vehicle opened fire, striking both the man and his dog.
Investigators recovered eight spent shell casings at the scene, highlighting the intensity of the gunfire.
Victim and Dog Hospitalized
The man was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and buttocks. Officials said he was listed in good condition.
His dog was also struck — suffering a gunshot wound to the shoulder — and was reported to be in good condition as well.

No Arrests Announced
As of Tuesday, no one was in custody, and police continue to investigate.
The shooting adds to ongoing concerns about gun violence and retaliatory confrontations in residential neighborhoods. What began as a verbal warning over speeding quickly escalated into a violent encounter.
Residents in West Pullman say speeding has been a persistent issue on neighborhood streets, particularly during early morning and evening hours.
Police are asking anyone with information about the red vehicle or the shooting to come forward.
