Three Arrested After Tampa Home Burglaries Net More Than $137K in Stolen Property, Sheriff Says

Tampa, Florida, authorities say a string of high-value residential burglaries ended with the arrest of three men after deputies tracked a suspect vehicle tied to crimes that left homeowners shaken and out more than $137,000 in stolen property.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the suspects were taken into custody following a traffic stop on Interstate 75, days after two separate homes were burglarized in Tampa.

First Burglary Reported on West Kenyon Avenue

According to investigators, the first burglary occurred on January 24, shortly after 3:30 p.m., at a home on West Kenyon Avenue.

Deputies responding to the call found the residence ransacked, with a shattered sliding glass door indicating forced entry.

Homeowners reported several high-value items missing, including:

  • A personal safe
  • Jewelry
  • Multiple firearms

“The level of damage and items taken suggested a targeted residential burglary,” investigators said.

Second Home Hit the Same Day

Later that same day, deputies received a second burglary report from a home on Osage Drive, approximately five miles away from the first location.

Investigators believe the two crimes were connected due to similarities in the method of entry and items stolen.

Surveillance Video Leads to Suspect Vehicle

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from both crime scenes, which helped identify a suspect vehicle believed to have been used during the burglaries.

That lead proved critical in moving the investigation forward.

“Video evidence played a major role in identifying and tracking the suspects,” HCSO said.

Traffic Stop on I-75 Leads to Arrests

On January 27, deputies spotted the suspect vehicle traveling southbound on I-75 near the Sun City Center Boulevard exit. A traffic stop was conducted, leading to the arrest of three men, authorities said.

Driver Arrested, ICE Detainer Issued

The driver was identified as Juan Caicedo-Chasoy, 39, who deputies said was driving without a valid license.

Investigators confirmed Caicedo-Chasoy has a final deportation order, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed an ICE detainer on him.

Passenger Gives Fake Name, Faces Multiple Charges

A passenger, Jhon Riasco-Vergara, 33, was arrested after deputies said he provided a fake name and a fraudulent driver’s license during the traffic stop.

He was initially booked on:

  • Possession and use of a fraudulent ID
  • Providing false information to law enforcement
  • Displaying a fraudulent identification card

Detectives later connected Riasco-Vergara to the Tampa burglaries, booking him on additional charges including:

  • Armed burglary of an unoccupied dwelling
  • Grand theft over $100,000

Second Passenger Linked to Felony Warrants

A second passenger, Louis Monseque, 35, was also found to be using fraudulent identification, deputies said.

Once his true identity was confirmed, investigators discovered multiple felony warrants out of Texas and Washington, including allegations related to:

  • Home burglaries
  • Kidnapping
  • Criminal mischief

Monseque was booked locally on charges of:

  • Providing a false name to law enforcement
  • Possession of cannabis under 20 grams

Immigration Status and Custody Update

Deputies confirmed that all three men are citizens of Colombia.

Authorities said:

  • Caicedo-Chasoy and Monseque have been released to ICE
  • Riasco-Vergara remains in the Hillsborough County Jail on multiple felony charges and an ICE detainer

Sheriff Praises Deputies’ Work

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister praised deputies for following procedures and holding suspects accountable.

“This case demonstrates how our deputies enforce the law and follow established procedures to hold offenders accountable,” Chronister said. “All three individuals were held on ICE detainers, and two have since been released to ICE to ensure they cannot return to our streets.”

Investigation Highlights Residential Crime Concerns

Authorities say the case underscores the importance of home security systems, surveillance cameras, and rapid reporting when burglaries occur.

The investigation remains active as detectives work to recover stolen property and determine whether the suspects may be connected to additional burglaries in the region.
