Sam Mewis, Aliyah Boston among Boston Legacy FC’s ‘Athlete Advisory Board’

As Boston Legacy FC gets ready for its 2026 on-field debut, the NWSL expansion team revealed a few well-known consultants who will assist in offering strategic direction as the team makes its initial moves.

The Legacy unveiled the Athlete Advisory Board on Wednesday, which includes former World Cup winners and members of the U.S. national team, Sam Mewis and Kristine Lilly. WNBA All-Star Aliyah Boston of the Indiana Fever and Allison Feaster, a former WNBA player and Celtics executive, are also on the board. Every group member has ties to the local community.

According to the team’s release, the board will improve the entire player experience and offer strategic direction on player initiatives.

It serves as just another foundational element as the club continues to prepare for its first season.

My soccer career was greatly influenced by the individuals and organizations in Massachusetts, as I grew up playing the game in the Boston area. Mewis, a native of Hanson, declared, “I’m excited to support my hometown club and help BLFC set the standard for player care by sharing my experience and insight.”

Jennifer Epstein, controlling owner of Legacy FC, stated that the board’s goal is to assist maintain the players’ attention.

As stated in the team announcement, Epstein noted, “This accomplished group brings unparalleled insight from the highest levels of professional sports and will play a key role in ensuring that athlete voices guide decisions across the club.”

Feaster and Boston provide extra leadership in addition to Mewis and Lilly’s soccer-specific knowledge. She is also a member of the club’s investor group in Boston’s case.

More than just a football team, Boston Legacy is about pride, community, and building something enduring for the city. “I want to be a part of the foundation that guides its future because I believe in what this club stands for,” she said.

The Legacy is continuing to put together its team in preparation for the 2026 kickoff while also developing its front office and organization. Six players have been signed by the team thus far.
