Muggy Monday kicks off a Stormy Week in Louisville: Heat and Thunderstorms on the way

Humidity levels are climbing across the region Monday, setting the stage for uncomfortable, muggy conditions and rising temperatures. Heat index values are forecast to climb into the mid to upper 90s, making it feel even hotter than the actual air temperature, which is expected to reach the upper 80s to lower 90s.

Later today, a disturbance will sweep through the area, sparking scattered showers and thunderstorms. These storms will develop in an increasingly unstable atmosphere, carrying the potential for torrential downpours and gusty winds.

The highest likelihood of storm activity falls during the afternoon and evening hours, but some isolated thunderstorms may linger into the overnight period.

Today marks the beginning of a classic summertime weather pattern, with daily chances of thunderstorms expected throughout the week. Storm chances will be highest during the peak heating hours each afternoon and evening, so residents are advised to stay weather-aware and prepare for possible disruptions.
