8 injured after ‘multiple explosions’ during fireworks set-up in Mashpee

According to police, eight individuals were injured after multiple explosions shook a Cape Cod village ahead of its yearly Fourth of July celebration.

Mashpee Deputy Fire Chief Brenden Ramsey stated in a statement Wednesday night that many explosions occurred at the New Seabury Country Club in Mashpee during the preparation for the fireworks show at approximately 4:37 p.m.

According to Ramsey, medical teams evaluated eight individuals, including one who was taken to a hospital in Rhode Island with critical but non-life-threatening injuries. The fire service reported that six people were treated on the scene, while another was taken to a nearby hospital.

According to Ramsey, a number of agencies responded to the area, including the FBI’s Bomb Square, the State Fire Marshal’s office, and local fire departments.

According to Ramsey, authorities are still present at the scene and are actively investigating the situation.

According to preliminary reports, the explosions occurred after a car carrying the pyrotechnics caught fire, according to Massachusetts State Police officers. According to the agency, the display was allowed.

A Boston 25 News reporter recorded a video of the explosion on a golf course, showing bright sparking pyrotechnics amid a cloud of white smoke.
