BROCKTON, MA — A former employee of Fall River Public Schools has been arrested on charges related to child sex crimes, Massachusetts State Police confirmed.
Kevin Galloway, 71, of Millis, was arrested by State Troopers and Brockton police officers on June 25 in the parking lot of a Brockton hotel. He has been charged with paying for sexual conduct with a child, enticement of a child under 16, and attempting to commit a crime, according to court records.
During his arraignment in Brockton District Court on June 26, Galloway pleaded not guilty. State Police declined to provide details on how Galloway was identified as a suspect but stated that the charges are not connected to the victimization of a child.
In a statement issued Saturday, Fall River Public Schools Superintendent Tracy Curley confirmed that Galloway is no longer employed by or affiliated with the district.
“At this time, we have not received any reports indicating that the alleged conduct is in any way connected to the Fall River Public Schools,” the statement reads. Curley added that the alleged crimes did not occur during school hours or on school property.
“We are deeply troubled by these allegations and understand the impact this may have on our school community,” Curley said. “The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. We remain committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all students, and we will continue to take every step necessary to uphold the trust of our families and community.”
It remains unclear what Galloway’s specific role within the school district was. No further information has been released.
Galloway was released on personal recognizance bail with conditions. He is scheduled to return to court for a pretrial hearing in August.
