6 Red Sox prospects fans should be following after Roman Anthony’s arrival

One of the most intriguing plot points of the 2025 Red Sox season thus far has been the entrance of a number of elite prospects at the major league level.

Catcher Carlos Narvaez has been perhaps Boston’s most impressive rookie thus far this season, while top prospects Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, and Kristian Campbell have earned appearances in The Show.

One of the most touted prospect groups in Red Sox history has finally arrived with those respective call-ups.

However, the Red Sox’s farm system is far from hopeless going ahead, even though Boston’s farm system is predicted to suffer now that guys like Anthony and Mayer are playing for Boston.

The following six Red Sox prospects are worth keeping an eye on both this season and beyond:

Franklin Arias, SS (Greenville Drive)

Arias may still need a few more summers to make a name for himself in Boston as a key player. However, in recent months, the 19-year-old infielder’s stock has skyrocketed, positioning him as the Red Sox’s newest must-watch prospect.

While discussions about Boston’s farm system were dominated by names like Anthony, Mayer, and Campbell, The Athletic’s Keith Law placed Arias No. 42 overall in his preseason 2025 rankings of the best baseball prospects.

Arias was ranked as the eighth-best baseball prospect by Law in late May, which was a big jump for a player who hasn’t yet been promoted above High-A league in his brief career.

It’s the Red Sox’s fault for graduating a top-10 prospect (Kristian Campbell) and then having someone else take his position right away, Law wrote.

In 2023, the Red Sox signed Venezuelan 5-foot-11 Arias as an international free agent. He was considered a plus defender at the time, and his potential at the professional level would depend on how much he could develop his hit tool.

Arias is now batting.305 over 41 games with 11 doubles, four home runs, 27 RBI, and five stolen bases, continuing to advance at the plate with High-A Greenville.

This week, Franklin Arias has been the talk of the scout section. excellent grades and comps. On both the public and team side of things, his stock is booming. At the age of 19, he has an 11-game hit streak and is up to.374/.412/.533 in High-A.Twitter: pic.twitter.com/NrdXDBG7U2

With just 15 strikeouts in 169 at-bats with Greenville, Arias has already shown encouraging plate discipline despite his inexperience.

At the age of 18, Arias won the Florida Man League MVP award the previous year before finishing with a respectable record.Law stated that he finished his debut season in the United States with a 257/.331/.378 line in 36 games in Low A. He returned to Low A, but before April was out, the Red Sox promoted him to High A because he was so excellent.

Since then, he has continued to hit, demonstrating remarkable contact abilities and breaking ball identification. For a player who will be 19 throughout the season and playing in High A, he has whiffed on just 10% of the pitches he has swung at this year, which is fantastic for almost any player. A shortstop with a strong hit tool and a 20+ homer upside is what we’re looking at. That potential eventually makes it into the running for the top spot.

Arias replacing Anthony as another top prospect in the system would be a nice development for the Red Sox.

Jhostynxon Garcia, OF (Worcester Red Sox)

Given his well-known moniker (The Password, as featured on Jeopardy!), Garcia is already a name to keep an eye on.

But after being promoted to Triple-A Worcester in late May, the 22-year-old outfielder is likewise not displaying any signs of slowing down. The Venezuelan product has been batting ever since.311 with 19 RBI and eight home homers in 27 games.

This isn’t the same post twice. Once more, Jhostynxon Garcia has succeeded. This is the second home run of the game for the Boston Red Sox prospect. He is striking.Since being promoted to Triple-A, he has amassed 314 (.997 OPS) with eight home runs and 19 RBI.image.twitter.com/XqMVVEX8dD…

Shortly after being called up to Worcester, Garcia, who was not ranked on Law’s original preseason rankings, moved up to No. 46 overall on his revised list in May.

According to Law, the so-called “Password” has advanced significantly this year following a breakthrough year in 2024. Even though the surface results aren’t there yet, he is still hitting the ball hard and swinging less frequently, which has also resulted in him whiffing and chasing less.

After being promoted to Triple A by the Red Sox last week, he hit two home runs at 106 and 109 mph in his first six games. It’s a much better approach, plus power, and, well, he ought to move to right field.

With players like Jarren Duran, Anthony, Wilyer Abreu, and Ceddanne Rafaela, Boston’s outfield is already congested. Garcia’s ongoing offensive run, however, presents the Red Sox with yet another advantageous issue for their outfield strategy going forward.

Payton Tolle, P (Greenville Drive)

Up in the major leagues, the Red Sox have an abundance of players who could make an impact.

But for the Red Sox, cultivating top pitching talent has frequently been a difficult task.

Boston is counting on Tolle, a 6-foot-6, 250-pound southpaw who is already producing impressive results in High-A ball, to help change some of that perception.

Tolle was the earliest pitcher the Red Sox had taken in the draft since Tanner Houck (24th overall) in 2017. He was selected out of TCU in the second round (50th overall) of the 2024 MLB Draft.

The Red Sox have been happy with his increased velocity and swing-and-miss stuff, even though his ERA at Greenville (3.62) may not get much attention. He has already struck out 79 batters in just 49.2 innings of work, while also walking 14.

There are many positive aspects of his work on the mound, even though he may be a few years away.

He is sitting at 95 to 98 miles per hour, which was unexpected in Year 1. We thought he could be in Year 2 or Year 3, but his path has been quite unique. Last Monday, Justin Willard, the pitching director for the Red Sox, notified Alex Speier of the Boston Globe about Tolle’s velocity. All that’s left to do is keep improving the other aspects of what he’s doing.

Brandon Clarke, P (Greenville Drive)

Clarke is another powerful southpaw with great stuff on the pitch, much like Tolle.

Clarke, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 MLB Draft, has shown promise in his few appearances with Greenville thus far, recording a 2.51 ERA and striking out 21 batters in just 14.1 innings of work.

According to Speier, Clarke, who stands 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 220 pounds, is hitting 97 miles per hour on his fastball and has a cut fastball that has a 74 percent rate.

Regarding Clarke’s potential, Willard informed Speier, “The ceiling is through the roof.” That’s what we’re concentrating on with him.

Given that Clarke hasn’t pitched since May 24 due to a blister issue, it is important to keep an eye on his health.

James Tibbs, OF (Portland Sea Dogs)

Kyle Harrison, 23,might offer the highest upside for Bostonamong the players acquired as part of last week s shocking trade centered around Rafael Devers.

But even though he s currently working on his craft with Triple-A Worcester, Harrison has plenty of big-league reps under his belt already (182.2 innings).

Tibbs stands as the top prospect that Boston gained in the Devers trade, as he was ranked asSan Francisco s No. 3 overall prospect by Baseball America.

Tibbs was selected No. 13 overall in the 2024 MLB Draft just one spot after the Red Sox selected Texas A&M outfielder Braden Montgomery at No. 12 overall. Montgomery was later traded by Boston as part of the package to acquire Garrett Crochet from the White Sox in December 2024.

A 22-year-old outfielder with some pop, Tibbs was batting .246 with 12 homers, 10 doubles, one triple, 32 RBIs, 41 runs, 42 walks and 45 strikeouts in 57 games for High-A Eugene this season before the trade.

He has started his Red Sox career up in Double-A Portland, batting .263 with a double, triple, and two RBI over five games.

Checks a lot of boxes the Red Sox look for in hitting prospects and they were reportedly interested in him in the 2024 draft. Hits the ball hard and makes good swing decisions, but could stand to show more consistency against off-speed and contact ability against velocity.

Blaze Jordan, 1B/3B (Worcester Red Sox)

Jordan has been in Boston s system for years now, but the 2020 third-round pick seems to have his stock soaring at just the right time.

With Triston Casas out for the season and Devers now in San Francisco, the Red Sox are still in desperate need for a stable option at first base.

It just so happens that the 22-year-old Jordan is now playing the best baseball of his career since getting called up to Triple-A Worcester earlier this month. Over 17 games with the WooSox, Jordan is batting .329 with 11 extra-base hits and 12 RBI over 17 games.

As noted by MassLive s Chris Smith, Jordan has also not committed an error at both first base and third base all season long between Portland and Worcester.

The Red Sox might target an established big-leaguer at the trade deadline if they want to add depth to the infield. But Jordan is making a pretty compelling case for himself over the last few weeks.
