Because of snow from a winter storm, the Kansas Department of Transportation says westbound Interstate 70 is closed from Goodland to Denver, Colorado.
KDOT officials said that the freeway might be closed until at least Saturday because of the harsh winter weather. They said that more parts of the interstate or other roads in northwest Kansas might need to be closed to keep drivers from getting stuck as hotels and truck parking lots fill up.
People who are driving are told to wear safety belts and pay attention to changing weather.
Extreme northwest Kansas could get 2 to 4 inches of snow from the storm, and northeast Colorado could get an extra 7 to 14 inches. It was 14 inches deep in Limon, Colorado, and 11 inches deep in Aurora.
