Walmart has issued nationwide recalls for multiple products sold both online and in stores due to serious health and safety risks, including lead poisoning, eye injuries, and drowning threats.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recalls on July 10, urging immediate consumer action.
Products Recalled
- SPPTTY Kids 14- and 18-Inch Bicycles
- Sold exclusively at Walmart.com between August and December 2024 for around $85
- Contain excessive levels of lead in multiple components and in the black paint on the included bike pumps
- Lead exposure poses a serious risk of irreversible developmental and neurological damage in children
- Bicycles are pink with brown seats, handlebars, pedals, and baskets
- Manufactured by Shenzhen Yihuachuang Technology (SPPTTY) in China
- No injuries reported so far
- Consumers must dismantle the bike, submit a photo for proof, and dispose of the product before receiving a refund
- Ozark Trail 64 oz Stainless Steel Insulated Water Bottles
- Approximately 850,000 units recalled
- Available since 2017 at Walmart stores and online for around $15
- Reports of exploding lids have led to serious injuries, including two cases of permanent vision loss
- Affected bottles are silver with black screw-top lids and the Ozark Trail logo
- Model number 83-662 appears on packaging only, not on the bottle itself
- Consumers advised to return bottles to any Walmart store for a full refund
- Tooetoy Pool Drain Covers
- Sold on Walmart.com and Amazon between April and May for approximately $22
- Do not comply with federal pool safety standards under the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act
- Defective design can trap swimmers underwater, posing a fatal drowning risk, especially to children
- No injuries reported yet
- Consumers should immediately stop using the product and dispose of it safely
