A man was taken into custody in Santa Ana for attempting to carjack a garbage truck; the incident occurred.
On Tuesday, the Santa Ana police department released video footage of the attempted robbery. The video shows the male suspect approaching a Republic Waste Services truck that is parked outside of a commercial plaza.
According to the police, he swiftly opens the door on the passenger side of the vehicle, hops inside, and allegedly threatens the driver by acting as if he is holding a weapon.
The driver hurriedly exits the truck out of concern for his own safety, as a witness watches with concern as he does so. An unsuccessful attempt was made by the suspect to drive the truck away from the scene.
When the police finally arrived at the shopping complex, they took the man into custody and brought him to the jail. As a result of his attempted carjacking, he was taken into custody and placed into the Santa Ana Jail.
There was no other information, including his identify, that was disclosed by the authorities.
