Two Tren de Aragua Members Arrested in Aurora, Suspected Connection to Texas Murder

DENVER — In September, police in Aurora nabbed two men who they say are part of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua for killing 33-year-old Nilzuly Enrique Arneaud-Petit in Farmers Branch, Texas.

On November 1, Homeland Security Investigations said that on September 26, Carl Luis Zambrano-Bolivar, 26, and Jhonata Nahin Toro Gonzalez, 22, were taken in Aurora by the Enforcement and Removal Operations team of Denver Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

A third person, 38-year-old Ehiker Morales Mendoza, was arrested by federal police on October 11 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The charges are linked to him.

HSI said that all three men were caught on charges of capital murder and aggravated kidnapping. They also said that the men are in the U.S. illegally. Reports from HSI say that they will likely be sent back to Texas to face charges.

The police are still looking for a fourth suspect, Jhonny Jesus Martinez Serrano, who is 29 years old.

In Texas, a murder began when a body was found on the road.

The Farmers Branch Police Department says that around 3:40 a.m. on August 24, officers were told that a body was lying in the 1100 block of Valley View Lane. Arneaud-Petit was later found to be the man. He was hit in the head with a bullet.

When police got to the scene, they were told that two teens, who might be connected to the victim, had been seen walking on a service road in Lewisville, which is about 10 miles away. Farmers Branch and Lewisville police officers went to the scene and heard that Arneaud-Petit and the two teens had been “forcibly taken by several unknown suspects from an apartment complex in Dallas around 12:30 a.m.”

According to Farmers Branch police, the teens said the suspects drove Andreau-Petit and them to the scene in Farmers Branch, where they shot and killed the 33-year-old man. The teens said the suspects left the area in a car with them and then let them go on the Lewisville service road.

The Farmers Branch Police Department said that Andreau-Petit knew the suspects and was “allegedly involved in a complex ATM theft operation targeting several locations across the country.” Detectives said Andreau-Petit was accused of not giving money to other people in the group, which caused a fight.

The gang members are said to have then dragged Andreau-Petit and the two kids out of the flat, where he was later killed.

The police department said that on September 26, officers from the Farmers Branch went to Aurora to talk to Zambrano-Bolivar and Gonzalez, who were being held by ICE. The police said that they have since been charged with capital murder and criminal kidnapping.
