Orange, NJ – A Thanksgiving celebration turned deadly for a New Jersey family after a house fire claimed the lives of Frantzia Fleury, 49, and Pojanee Fleury, 42, who were reportedly saving their disabled father from the flames. The blaze broke out at about 5 p.m. at a home on Mosswood Avenue near Tremont Avenue, authorities said.

The sisters were pronounced dead at the scene at 6:45 p.m., according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. Their father escaped unharmed, along with six other occupants of the home.

“I just came here to look, and then I see the whole fire. That’s heartbreaking, and on Thanksgiving, that’s hard. That’s really hard.”

“I just know that they kept their yard really nice and whenever I would go for a walk or run, they were super friendly.”
