Two Pedestrians Killed, Two Others Injured in North Dallas Crash Under Investigation

Dallas, Texas—Police are investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash in Far North Dallas that left two pedestrians dead and two others injured after a violent collision sent one of the cars onto a sidewalk Thursday evening.

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers were dispatched around 6:20 p.m. to the intersection of Frankford Road and Coit Road following reports of a serious traffic accident involving pedestrians.

Crash Sends Vehicle Onto Sidewalk

Investigators say two vehicles collided at the busy intersection, and the impact caused one of the cars to veer onto the sidewalk, striking two pedestrians who were walking nearby.

Emergency crews from Dallas Fire-Rescue transported four people to local hospitals. Officials confirmed that two of the injured were pedestrians, while the other two were occupants of one of the vehicles involved.

The pedestrians were later pronounced dead at the hospital, while the two vehicle occupants were treated for non-critical injuries, authorities said.

“It was a very chaotic scene when crews arrived,” officials noted, as first responders worked to assist victims and secure the area.

Witness Describes Speeding Moments Before Impact

A witness at the scene described a dramatic sequence leading up to the collision. Blake Bowman, an employee at a nearby car wash, said one vehicle appeared to be traveling at an extremely high speed moments before the crash.

“There was a car that was speeding, way faster than it should have been,” Bowman said.

He explained that a dark-colored sedan was traveling eastbound on Frankford Road when it collided with a white sedan that was attempting to turn left from Coit Road.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business reportedly shows the dark sedan speeding past other vehicles just before the crash, though the actual impact was not captured on video.

Pedestrians Thrown by Impact, Witness Says

Bowman said the force of the crash was so severe that it sent the pedestrians flying.

“I saw out of the corner of my eye what looked like somebody just go flying,” he said. “It was not a pretty sight. Unfortunately, those two people lost their lives.”

Investigators noted that tire marks extended from the intersection onto the sidewalk for an estimated 50 yards, showing how far the vehicle traveled after leaving the roadway.

Area Known for Frequent Accidents

Others who work near the intersection say crashes are common in the area. Sam Benavidez, who operates a clothing donation site at a nearby gas station, said he has witnessed numerous accidents there over the past year.

“That’s what you see almost every other day,” Benavidez said. “It gets scary out here. You have to be aware.”

Residents and workers in the area have long raised concerns about speeding and traffic congestion at the Frankford and Coit intersection, particularly during evening hours.

Investigation Ongoing, No Charges Yet

Dallas Police say the crash remains under active investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time. Investigators are reviewing witness statements, vehicle data, and surveillance footage to determine exactly what led to the collision.

“We are still gathering information and examining all available evidence,” police said.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the two pedestrians once their next of kin have been notified.

Community Shaken by Tragedy

The deaths have shaken the Far North Dallas community, especially those who frequent the busy intersection. Authorities are reminding drivers to slow down, obey traffic signals, and remain alert, particularly in high-traffic pedestrian areas.

As investigators work to piece together what happened, residents are left mourning two lives lost in what witnesses describe as a sudden and devastating chain of events.
