ENID, Oklahoma— Madison Ramey began her day normally on Thursday morning. She fed her one-year-old daughter Maeve food and then let her play in the yard.
Then Ramey suggested that they go for a walk. That’s when things got really scary.
“The brown dog barked at me as soon as they turned around and saw me,” Ramey said.
The Enid Police Department said that two dogs hurt three people. The inch-deep bites on Ramey sent her to the hospital to get care. The others turned down medical care.
In addition to getting better from all the bites, Ramey had to get several shots for Rabies.
As she thinks back on the scary event, she remembers being shocked and grabbing her daughter to protect her from the two mean dogs.
“I was blocking them with this arm and letting them bite me while yelling for help and hoping someone would hear me,” Ramey talked about.
As she screamed for help, she was bitten several times in different places. She was bitten even when she fell to the ground with her daughter close to her chest.
Little Maeve wasn’t bitten and isn’t hurt.
When Enid police arrived to help, they had to shoot and kill one of the dogs.
“Officers found one of the dogs and had to shoot it because it tried to attack one of our officers,” said Cass Rains with the Enid Police Department.
The police say that both dogs were mixes of Pit Bulls, and one of them is still on the run.
When News 4 went to the dog owner’s house on Friday afternoon, the cops gave her a ticket.
The owner says she doesn’t know where her other dog is.
Ramey says she grew up with dogs and loves them. She even has her own Pit Bull, but she says this was almost a tragedy.
“I was scared they were going to take my daughter. For a while, we won’t go for walks without my fiancé,” Ramey said.
