Tragic Case: 17-Year-Old Arrested for Ex-Girlfriend’s Murder in Long Beach. A 17-year-old kid has been taken into custody by police on suspicion of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend in Long Beach in November.

According to a police statement at the time, the incident occurred on November 22 at approximately 11:40 a.m. when officers from the Long Beach Police Department were called to the 900 block of Gaviota Avenue.

The victim, who has subsequently been identified as Justice Lopez, age 21, was taken by paramedics to the hospital, where she passed away.

According to the LBPD statement, on November 26, investigators found Lopez’s ex-boyfriend, the suspect, on the 6100 block of Orange Avenue.

After authorities found him to be the suspect in Lopez’s murder, he was taken into custody, charged on two unrelated warrants, and is still detained without bail.

Police claimed that because of the teen’s age, his name has not been made public. The motivation behind the shooting has not yet been made public.
