MassDOT has announced that it would close the southbound portion of I-93 in the Tip O Neill Tunnel overnight Tuesday in order to do maintenance.
extend week, the transportation agency declared that the shutdown will begin at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, and extend until 5 a.m. on Wednesday. Starting at exit 20 (Sullivan Square), the southbound lanes of I-93 will be blocked. Additionally, access points from Storrow Drive, Route 1 (Tobin Bridge), and other tunnel on-ramps to the southbound lanes will be blocked.
According to MassDOT, Albany Street will continue to provide access to I-93 southbound.
According to officials, staff will be engaged in a variety of maintenance tasks throughout the shutdown.
According to a statement from MassDOT, the work area will be marked with appropriate signage, law enforcement information, and messaging to help drivers navigate it. Drivers should use caution, slow down, and anticipate delays when passing through the impacted regions.
