The Baby Was Freed From Children's Mercy Hospital, and a Man in Newtonia is Being Charged With Child Abuse

Jeremy Boggess, 28, from Newtonia, has a court date set for December 13th.

The officials in Newton County say that Boggess abused his girlfriend’s nine-month-old son in September.

KY3 in Springfield reports that “Baby Waylon,” who is now 10 months old, has been freed from a hospital in Kansas City. His injuries will have a lasting impact on his life, though.

The probable cause affidavit says Boggess told the officers that he threw the boy into the air to make him feel better. They were told that Boggess “bear hugged” the baby until he stopped screaming after the baby fell and he failed to catch it.

Boggess has been charged with abuse or neglect of a child causing major harm.

Police in Newton County were told by doctors at Children’s Mercy that the child had “abusive head trauma” and other injuries. They said the child had been abused physically.

The child was in very bad shape when they got to the hospital in Kansas City.

On October 24, he was set free.
