Shooting in Riverside County Leaves Two Injured, 19-Year-Old Arrested

In Riverside County, two people were discovered to have been shot, which led to the arrest of a suspect who was 19 years old.

Deputy sheriffs responded to a call of an attack with a deadly weapon that occurred in the 600 Block of West Lakeshore Drive in Lake Elsinore at approximately 12:30 in the morning on March 22.

Deputies who arrived on the scene discovered a traumatized individual lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He had already fled the scene of the crime.

A short time later, the authorities were informed that a second individual had also arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds following the initial incident. It was found that the two shootings were connected to one another.

Following further investigation, the suspect was identified as Kenyelo Centeno-Guzman, who is 19 years old and hails from Lake Elsinore. While he was being brought into custody for attempted murder and the recovery of a stolen firearm, a search warrant was served at his residence on March 27. He was hauled into custody the next day.

A second individual who was present at the residence, Belica Guzman, 41, was also taken into custody on suspicion of tampering with evidence, endangering a child, and willfully delaying or trying to hinder a law enforcement official.

After being transferred, both of them were brought to the Cois Byrd Detention Center and booked there. The authorities have stated that they intend to pursue enhancements to the accusations that are tied to gangs as well.

Particulars on the reason for the shooting, as well as the manner in which the suspect and the victims were acquainted with one another, were not distributed.

“The Lake Elsinore Station and the Region 4 Gang Task Force have a zero-tolerance stance on all gang-related crimes, and they will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the sheriff’s department said. “This is just the beginning of the investigation and prosecution process.”
