Rockdale Boys Reported Missing Have Been Found, DPS Say

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the two boys who were reported missing from Rockdale have been located, and the Amber Alert has been cancelled as a result.

A brief overview of the Amber Alert’s past

Amber Hagerman, who was nine years old at the time, was reported missing on January 13, 1996, which resulted in the first Amber Alert being issued. A creek was the location where the body of the young girl who had been reported missing from Arlington, Texas, was discovered four days.

The story of a woman in the community who advocated for the establishment of a public Emergency Alert System is told by the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. In order for neighbourhood people to be able to assist in the hunt for a missing child, Diane Simone desired that they be informed whenever a child goes missing. She made a request that it be named after Amber Hagerman, and as a result, Amber’s Plan was developed in her honour.
