Robbery Suspect Killed with Own Gun During Attempt on Chicago’s South Side. During a battle with his intended victim on the South Side on Saturday afternoon, a would-be robber was shot and murdered with his own firearm.
Around 2:50 p.m., according to the police, a gunman approached a 43-year-old male who was working outside in the 1500 block of West Garfield Boulevard, which is the boundary between West Englewood and Back of the Yards, and demanded his possessions.
The suspect was shot in the torso as the two fought for the would-be robber’s gun. After being transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, he was declared deceased.
No one was in custody on Saturday night, according to the police. Detectives from Area 1 were looking into it.
