Review & setlist: Jonas Brothers leave Fenway ‘burnin’ up’ with nostalgia in mid 2000s-packed set

3000 years ago? No, let’s go back to the middle of the 2000s.

The Jonas Brothers’ performance at Fenway Park on Saturday night was essentially a massive ode to their mid-2000s musical influences, even though they are best known for their rendition of “Bursted sYear 3000.”

The Jonas20: Greetings from Your Hometown tour is a celebration of 20 years of music by the New Jersey brothers Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas, who first appeared on the Disney Channel.

  • The Jonas Brothers did not hold back with surprise guests at Fenway Park. Here s who you missed.

The Jonas Brothers’ song “I took a ship to the year 3000” went multi-platinum. “Everyone bought our seventh album,” they sang in Year 3000. However, it is now 2025, and the band published their seventh studio album this year.

Both the band and its followers have advanced much since the Camp Rock years. Several fan shirts and banners in the audience declared the brothers to be “hot dads,” a change from their status as teenage heartthrobs in the late 2000s.

According to Nick Jonas, we are commemorating a 20-year journey together tonight. And listen, it’s not just the three of us on stage—every single one of you present today made this happen by believing in three New Jersey adolescents with lofty goals. Thank you; it’s all because of you.

We’ve experienced both good and bad moments together, but now look at us,” he continued.

The Jonas Brothers pondered extensively on the early years of their career and how choices, both major and small, brought them to where they are now, much as they did during their two nights at Boston’s TD Garden in 2023, another tour loaded with nostalgia that highlighted their own eras.

But this time, the band concentrated on the musicians who not only inspired them but also assisted them in establishing themselves in the entertainment business.

Special guests keep Fenway buzzing

Boys Like Girls and the All-American Rejects are two of those musical inspirations that open different tour locations. The latter, Boys Like Girls, was rightfully Fenway’s. The pop-rock group was founded in Massachusetts in 2004 and quickly gained popularity thanks to songs like “The Great Escape” and “Love Drunk.”

The Fenway Park neighborhood, especially Lansdowne Street, holds special meaning for Boys Like Girls. One could follow the band’s 20-year development through the music venues on this one block, starting with their first performance at Bill’s Bar in the late 2000s and continuing through their 2016 show at the House of Blues and 2023 performance at MGM Music Hall.

Three surprises were brought to Boston by the Jonas Brothers, who have delighted audiences at points along this tour with special guests like Demi Lovato and Cartel.

Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional played his 2004 hit song Vindicated first. Then he stayed to join in on Take a Breath, a Jonas Brothers song from 2007. According to Joe, the song was influenced by Dashboard Confessional’s music.

Pop sensation Jesse McCartney joined the band later that evening, and Nick Jonas revealed that he was the first performer to truly take a chance on us and allow them to open on a tour. Leavin’ and Beautiful Soul, two of McCartney’s greatest hits, were played by the singer, who had previously appeared on this tour.

Last but not least, the Jonas Brothers shocked the audience with Joanna JoJo Levesque from Foxborough, fitting in with the tour’s hometown theme. JoJo helped the Jonas Brothers with their song Vacation Eyes and sang her smash song Leave (Get Out) while sporting a special Red Sox jersey.

The concert also included a Big Rob moment during Burnin’ Up, a surprise appearance by Glen Powell as the Jonas Brothers took the stage, an opening performance by the fourth and youngest brother and his band, Franklin Jonas and the Byzantines; a roughly 30-minute laser-filled DJ set by Marshmello that kept the energy high in between two Jonas Brothers acts; and even a Red Sox Wally the Green Monster dancing on stage for Cake by the Ocean.

Kevin Jonas deserves his flowers

In 2025, the brothers seem more united than ever in their support of one another on stage, even though Nick and Joe have separated and pursued solo endeavors over the years, as well as a 2013 band rupture that resulted in a years-long separation.

The brothers each took a moment to give brief overviews of their side pursuits. That includes Chains and Jealousy for Nick. For Joe that meant Cake by the Ocean, who recently released “What This Could Be” with DNCE guitarist JinJoo Lee.

However, Kevin? At the microphone, the oldest brother has never taken the lead. That is, until he surprised everyone by making his solo debut on Saturday night with the unreleased song “Changing.”

“Please be patient with me,” Kevin Jonas said to the Fenway crowd.

Fans duly gave Kevin his flowers in the form of boy band-loving, high-pitched shouts. The fan base had obviously been anticipating this moment.

In order to bring it all home, the Jonas Brothers invited their father, Kevin Jonas Sr., and youngest brother, Franklin Jonas, onto the stage as they closed up the act with When You Look Me in the Eyes.

The Jonas Brothers are still going strong after twenty years in business. And based on Saturday’s yells at Fenway, it seems like its supporters are here to stay.
