After police intercepted a stolen car in Medford Thursday night, a trash truck was hijacked and subsequently crashed close to the Encore casino, according to the police.
Around 4 p.m., Everett police reported that a trash truck that looked to be from Republic Services crashed on the Alford Street Bridge between Everett and Boston, closing Lower Broadway as a result of the crime scene.
According to a statement from the department, police in Medford first attempted to halt a stolen car. According to Everett police, the guy fled on foot after crashing that automobile on Broadway in front of the Encore Boston Harbor casino and reportedly carjacking a trash car.
The driver was taken into custody after the garbage truck collided on the Alford Street Bridge, according to Everet police.
According to police on Facebook, the active crime scene in Everett caused a temporary closure of Lower Broadway at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday. As of approximately 5 p.m., the roadway remained closed, and three crime scenes nearby are being processed by the police.

Encore Casino acknowledged the event happened in front of the facility, while Republic Services declined to comment.
According to a spokeswoman, the resort is unaffected and is still open. Members of the team are helping with traffic.
