Authorities in Louisiana have filed criminal charges against a father and mother for allegedly leaving their daughter, who is 15 years old, in the city of Shreveport. The kid was discovered by law enforcement last week “alone in a filthy hotel room” and “surviving on her own,” according to several authorities from the police department.
According to the local NBC station, the teenage victim was reputedly the size of a 10-year-old when she was discovered by law enforcement police on Wednesday. This was after her parents, Carey Herring, 52, and Angela Herring, 50, had abandoned her for a period of two weeks in late March. Police believe that she was at the motel where the Herrings had left her for at least two weeks, during which time she was subjected to “deplorable” circumstances and left without supervision or showers.
“She told our officers that her mother left more than a week ago saying, ‘I love you, be back soon,'” the Shreveport Police Department stated in a news release that was issued on Monday.
