When a frantic police pursuit that began in Ohio came to an end in a collision, the suspect was shot by law enforcement officers.
The collision, which occurred in a police car that had been stolen, caused the Pennsylvania Turnpike in North Sewickley Township to be closed for a number of hours.
For the time being, the eastbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Beaver County are still closed since the incident is still active and there are law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, and the coroner located there.
A cruiser belonging to the Ohio State Patrol was seen on the Pennsylvania Turnpike when it was mounted on its roof, as taken by the KDKA Drone Team.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the vehicle was being driven by a man from Ohio, and the incident began with a successful pursuit by law enforcement. It was initially on the Ohio Turnpike when the suspect was involved in an automobile accident. An officer went to check on the suspect after he had crashed, and it was during this time that the suspect engaged in a fight with the officer and made an attempt to steal his firearm.
The suspect allegedly then stole the vehicle belonging to the trooper and led the police on a pursuit that took them across the border into Pennsylvania and onto the Pennsylvania Turnpike where they were pursued.
The stolen cruiser was then involved in an accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, not far from Homewood Borough, which is located in Beaver County.
It was then that the man was shot and died, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.
Investigation of this occurrence is still going on at this time.
