Pokémon … Gone? More than $113k worth of rare Pokémon cards swiped from Mass. store

A thief made a clean getaway with an abundance of rare Pokémon cards from a New Bedford collectibles shop early Tuesday morning, the store said.

1st Edition Collectibles, a cards and collectibles shop on Purchase Street, was robbed of “high end items,” around 2:30 a.m. on July 8, the store said in a

Facebook post

.

The card collection is valued at almost $113,650, NBC10 Boston reported. Pokémon cards vary in rarity, and some collector’s items cost

thousands of dollars

.

The shop

shared surveillance footage

of the masked thief cramming stacks of the cards into a bag.

The store compiled a list of the stolen items — which include numerous Charizard cards and Booster Boxes, which contain 36 packs of cards each — and asked the public to keep an eye out for them.

No arrests had been made as of late Friday morning, according to NBC News.

The New Bedford Police Department said Friday that it is investigating and

asked for the public’s help

to identify the person seen in the surveillance video.

In a

Facebook post

Thursday evening, the store said the burglary was “devastating,” but it would “bounce back, grow, and come back better than ever.”

The store

announced

it would be closing for the rest of the week to “reflect, regroup, revamp” and is set to reopen Tuesday.

“The overwhelming support that we’ve received from you all this week has been amazing and a reminder as to why we love this hobby and the community involved so much,” the post reads.
