Pittsburgh Warms Up: Sunshine Pushes Temperatures Near 50°F

Pittsburgh Warms Up: Sunshine Pushes Temperatures Near 50°F

Sunlight will make its way back into the forecast today, which will contribute to temperatures in the Pittsburgh area getting closer to fifty degrees.

Are There Any Warning Days Ahead? Not at this time

There was a total of 0.2 inches of snowfall yesterday. The total amount of snowfall for the season is 34.0 inches. Our ‘average’ is 9.6 inches higher than this.

The weather forecast calls for sunshine to return, providing us with a daylong relief from the accumulation of snow and rain. Due to the fact that the likelihood of precipitation is increasing soon before midnight, it seems likely that we will have less than 0.03 inches of rain for today’s almanac.

At midday, temperatures will be in the middle of the 40s, and today’s highs will reach the low 50s.

Low temperatures in the morning have returned to the 20s, and there is no additional cold in the air. Winds are light. There will be sunshine for the majority of the day today. After four o’clock this afternoon, I anticipate skies that are largely cloudy to overcast, with the partial cloudiness of the afternoon continuing into the evening.

On Thursday, the rain is predicted to continue, and it is anticipated that the day will have a total rainfall of approximately half an inch. The most of the rain that fell on Thursday will fall in the morning, and more specifically during the commute in the morning.

The rain that is expected to fall on Thursday will mark the beginning of another more active period of rain, and in some areas, snow may even fall. The majority of days will not be washouts. The greatest illustration of this is Friday, when it is anticipated that the early hours will be dry, but rain is likely to fall to our south. The likelihood of precipitation is expected to resume for the Laurel Highlands and the ridges in the early afternoon, and it is expected to expand to other areas as we get further into Friday.

There is a possibility that higher elevations will have snowfall overnight, which will eventually replace the rain probability. It is conceivable that some areas will see snowfall totals that are greater than one inch. This is an incredible accomplishment, even for the Laurel Highlands, considering how late it is in the season.

Snow is not completely finished with Pittsburgh at this point.

Later on Tuesday, it seems that there is a possibility of snowfall coming our way once more. As another upper low moves at us, the outcome will be determined by the rate at which temperatures drop and the distance they descend.

Continuing with the topic of snow, the 0.2 inches of snow that was reported at the Pittsburgh airport yesterday has brought our seasonal total up to 34.0 inches.

In spite of this, our ‘typical’ total for this time of year is still approximately ten inches lower than what we have collected thus far. It is the highest since the year 2022.
