In the early hours of Friday morning, a large fire raced through a church located in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia.
It was just before one in the morning when the fire broke out at the church located on the 2000 block of East Allegheny Avenue.
According to Deputy Chief Thomas Gallagher of the Philadelphia Fire Department, the church experienced multiple collapses, one of which was the roof.
According to him, the church was constructed in the year 1884, and because of the extensive use of wood during the building process, the fire was rather large.
The Red Cross was requested to provide assistance to residents who had been displaced from four residences that had been evacuated.
Absolutely no one was hurt.
The fire was brought under control at approximately 2:45 in the morning.
Currently, the inquiry into the cause is ongoing.
Another fire broke out in East Germantown on Thursday, destroying a pair of single-family homes. Two individuals have not been located as a result of the incident, and one fireman has sustained injuries.
Multiple homes evacuated during a 3-alarm church fire in Philadelphia’s Kensington section.
